Wanted: Two Left Shoes

Like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates, when you combine a holiday potluck lunch, white-elephant gift exchange, and the Woodson Art Museum staff, you don’t know what you’ll get!

Our fun-loving and creative team came together over the noon hour on Monday, December 16, to celebrate the season . . . and have a little fun, too.

The buffet table was filled to overflowing with an array of yummy foods. There were vegetarian delights along with carnivore-pleasing dishes and all sorts of tempting treats that make for adventuresome eating.

 

In addition to enjoying one another’s company and conversations about holiday plans, the pièce de résistance is the white-elephant gift exchange.

Shari Schroeder, administrative manager, is the mastermind and the master of ceremonies. She orchestrates the mischief and the fun. You can steal another’s gift up to three times, and a lot of wheeling and dealing certainly took place. Pear wine, an impish gnome, and an exotic elephant were in hot demand.

Alas, two right shoes were not. But this gift gets the highest marks for creativity along with its accompanying slogan: “When you’re right, you’re right!” However, the recipient sure would like to find at least one matching left shoe!
